How to try Fable 5, whatever you currently have
There is no unlimited free Fable 5, and any site promising one is not running the real model. But there are more real routes than most people think. Find your situation below and follow the shortest honest path.
Quick summary
- Claude Pro and Max subscribers already have Fable 5 included in plan limits until June 22.
- GitHub Copilot users may already have Fable 5 access without realizing it: check the model picker.
- If you have nothing, the cheapest real route is about $5 of Anthropic API credit, not a free mirror site.
You have a Claude Pro or Max plan
You already have the best deal available: Fable 5 is included in your plan limits until June 22. Open the model picker in Claude or Claude Code and select Fable 5. One caution: it draws down usage about 2x faster than Opus, so save it for tasks that deserve it. See the notices page for the full June 22 explanation.
You have an Anthropic API key
Use the model id claude-fable-5 through the API or console workbench. Pricing is $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens, with prompt caching discounts. A focused evaluation session typically costs a few dollars. This route has no June 22 deadline and is the most predictable way to test the model on your own workloads.
You have GitHub Copilot
This is the route people miss: Fable 5 is available through GitHub Copilot. If your plan and organization policy allow Anthropic models, you can select Fable 5 in Copilot's model picker inside VS Code or on github.com, with no Claude subscription and no API key. The Copilot guide on this site walks through enabling it step by step.
You only have ChatGPT, Codex, or Gemini
Your subscription cannot run Fable 5, and no credential trick changes that. The $5 starter route works: create an Anthropic console account, add a small amount of API credit, and run claude-fable-5 directly in the console workbench in about five minutes. Before spending anything, the comparison pages here summarize how Fable 5 differs from GPT-5.5 and Gemini so you can decide whether it is worth a test.
You have none of these
The honest answer: there is currently no free, real Fable 5 playground anywhere, including sites that imply otherwise while serving open-source models behind a Fable 5 label. If you just want to see what the model can do, real recorded outputs are the closest thing to trying it for free. We are publishing side-by-side task runs comparing Fable 5 with other models; join the email list on the homepage to get them as they go live.
Routes that do not exist (and why)
No site can legitimately resell Claude subscription access, proxy your OAuth login, or share accounts. Consumer subscription credentials do not work as API keys, and services asking for your Claude login are a security problem, not a shortcut. Every route on this page keeps your credentials with the official provider, which is also why these routes keep working.
Make the most of Fable 5 before June 22
Fable 5 is included in Claude plan limits until June 22, and it draws down usage faster than Opus. The Sprint Kit is a one-time playbook for getting real work out of the window: task templates, a usage calculator, and a credits decision guide.

Is there a free Fable 5 playground?
No. Sites offering a free Fable 5 chat are running other models behind that label. The real model requires Claude plan access, API credit, or an integrated product like GitHub Copilot.
What is the absolute cheapest way to try the real Fable 5?
If you have GitHub Copilot, it may already be included. Otherwise, about $5 of Anthropic API credit in the console workbench is the cheapest verified route.
Can I use someone else's Claude subscription through a proxy site?
No. Subscription credentials are not API keys, account sharing breaks Anthropic's terms, and handing your login to a third-party site is a security risk.
