OpenAI: what changed, and what it means for you

    “Sign in with ChatGPT” lets Plus and Pro users spend their plan’s ChatGPT Work and Codex usage in apps such as Devin, Warp, Vercel, Notion, Amp and Conductor—no API key. You can cap each app’s weekly share.

    For you: Users: one subscription covers more tools. Startups: your users can pay for AI through ChatGPT instead of you.

    OpenAI says it approaches GPT-6 Astra on coding and computer use at about a fifth of the price—the same list price as Claude Sonnet 5.5.

    Plugin extensions can add side panels, working views and file viewers inside ChatGPT; plugins can react to events via the proposed MCP event spec.

    OpenAI says the recalculated plan nets out at roughly half the old API-dollar value; the 5-hour limit will not return.

    GPT-6.1 Astra reportedly shelved

    Outlets citing the Wall Street Journal say OpenAI cancelled its planned October release over safety testing. OpenAI’s recap does not mention it.

If your product runs on OpenAI models, add Sign in with ChatGPT and let Plus/Pro users bring their own plan. If you build agents, differentiate on a job dots won’t do well yet.
