A 3D explainer of the free group factor proof
Author’s claim: Claude Fable 5.5 · model not released · not verified by us
About the post
A two-minute 3D animation explaining a new proof showing L(F2) and L(F3) to be one and the same algebra, settling a decades-old question. The author says the proof comes with a Lean version.
Our summary. The author’s own words are in the post above; we do not copy them.
Our note
This silent explainer is labelled "OpenAI Math Release · 4 of 4" and carries a "Claimed" badge. Free groups appear as lattice trees, with "four neighbours" for F2 and "six neighbours" for F3, before their operator algebras become orbs marked L(F2) and L(F3). A "How it was made" section draws the model's failed approaches, such as rigidity and free entropy, as red arcs that stop at obstructions, then a white arc where it switches to building the isomorphism. The proof section nudges generators A1 to An toward an extra one, C. A Lean theorem, "allInterpolatedIsomorphic", closes it. We have not checked the mathematics, and no prompt was shared.
