A black hole renderer from scratch

About the post

A 30-second black hole render where each pixel follows a light ray bent by a non-rotating black hole. The author says it was coded from scratch in Python in about an hour.

Our summary. The author’s own words are in the post above; we do not copy them.

Our note

A ray-traced flight around a non-rotating black hole. The on-screen readout gives the camera's distance in units of M, its elevation in degrees and "Schwarzschild metric". The shot starts edge-on, with the accretion disc bent over and under the shadow, moves in close, crosses the plane of the disc, and ends looking down from the pole at a ring. The closing captions say there was no game engine, stock footage or downloaded textures, only the light-bending equation solved in Python. That is the author's account, and we have not run the code.

Written by The Frontier Brief after watching the video (Nov 5, 2026). It describes what is on screen; we have not run the work ourselves.
