Claude Max 20x is now Ultra: 10× Pro a week, no five-hour limit
Anthropic updated its plan pages on October 30, 2026. The $200 plan is now called Ultra: same price, a weekly limit stated as 10 times Pro, and no five-hour limit once your account is verified.
- Price, unchanged
- $200
- a month, as Max 20x was
- Usage every week
- 10×
- Pro’s; Max gets 5×
- Five-hour limit
- None
- for verified accounts
If the five-hour limit is what stops you, Ultra removes it once Anthropic verifies your account. If the weekly limit stops you, Ultra’s week is twice Max’s; Anthropic does not say whether it is bigger than the old Max 20x week.

A new name, the same price
Max 20x is now called Ultra. Existing Max 20x subscribers moved to Ultra automatically, with no price change.
Anthropic’s Ultra plan page (opens in a new tab)No five-hour limit, once verified
Verified Ultra accounts have only the weekly limit. Until Anthropic verifies an account, a temporary limit applies, and it is removed automatically.
Anthropic’s Ultra plan page (opens in a new tab)The week is stated as 10× Pro
Ultra includes 10 times Pro’s usage every week. Max includes 5 times Pro every five hours and every week, so Ultra’s week is twice Max’s.
Claude pricing page (opens in a new tab)$200 a month in API credits
Ultra comes with $200 a month in Claude API credits, up from $100 on Max. Anthropic’s pricing page marks both as new.

Is your Ultra account verified?
- Open Settings > Usage in Claude.
- No Current session bar: your account is verified and has no five-hour limit.
- A Current session bar: a temporary limit still applies. Anthropic verifies accounts automatically, from things like account and payment history, and then removes it. There is nothing to do.
Verifying your phone number at checkout is a separate step and does not remove the limit. Anthropic’s Ultra plan page (opens in a new tab)
Who Ultra is for

- The weekly limit stops you on Max
- Our read On our own $200 plan, a week has felt like roughly 1.7–2.0× the $100 plan, close to the 2× in Anthropic’s new numbers. What a week on $200 looks like →
- You were on Max 20x
- Anthropic Nothing to do: you are on Ultra at the same price. Check Settings > Usage to see whether the five-hour bar is gone. Anthropic’s Ultra plan page (opens in a new tab)
- You mostly use Fable 5.1
- Anthropic Both plans cap Fable at 50% of the weekly limit, so Ultra’s cap is half of a week twice as large. Fable also uses the limit faster than other models. Anthropic’s page on Fable and your plan (opens in a new tab)
- You are on Pro and want Fable
- Anthropic On Pro, Fable runs only on usage credits. Max is the cheapest individual plan that includes it, up to half the weekly limit. Anthropic’s page on Fable and your plan (opens in a new tab)

Questions about Ultra
I was on Max 20x. Do I need to do anything?
No. Anthropic says existing Max 20x subscribers move to Ultra automatically, with no price change. Source (opens in a new tab)
Why do I still have a five-hour limit on Ultra?
Your account is not verified yet, so a temporary limit applies. Anthropic verifies Ultra accounts automatically and then removes it; verifying your phone number at checkout does not. In Settings > Usage, no Current session bar means your account is verified. Source (opens in a new tab)
Is the Ultra week bigger than the old Max 20x week?
Anthropic does not say. Its pages now give Ultra 10 times Pro’s usage every week and Max 5 times; they do not compare the new week with the old Max 20x one. Source (opens in a new tab)
Does Ultra have other limits?
Yes. A weekly limit that applies across all models, a separate weekly limit for Fable, and Anthropic says it may limit usage in other ways, such as weekly and monthly caps, at its discretion. Source (opens in a new tab)
How much Fable 5.1 can I use on Ultra?
Up to 50% of your weekly limit, the same share as on Max. It is a cap inside your limit, not an extra 50%, and Fable models use the limit faster than other Claude models. Past the cap you can keep going with usage credits or switch models. Source (opens in a new tab)
What happens if I move from Max to Ultra mid-month?
Anthropic charges a prorated amount for the rest of your billing cycle. If you have claimed monthly API credits, you get prorated credits right away, then the higher amount each billing cycle after that. Source (opens in a new tab)
Can I pay for Ultra yearly?
Not at the moment. Ultra, like Max, is a monthly subscription only. Source (opens in a new tab)
