Opus 5.6
Is Opus 5.6 out? No. Anthropic has not announced Opus 5.6. The current Opus is Opus 5.5, released September 22, 2026. The name exists only in routing reports from October 11–12, which could as easily point to Fable 5.5.

Leak@legit_api: “a new Opus” has entered early testing, next to a newer Fable checkpointPredictedauthor claim · unverified
No version number. The first new sign of an Opus since the October 11–12 routing reports; it could be Opus 5.6 or another name. A model in testing says nothing about a date or a price. The same row, for Fable, sits in the Fable 5.5 table.

ReportThe Information: a new Anthropic model is with testers; whether it is a Fable or an Opus is not clearPredictedauthor claim · unverified
Relayed as better at inferring what users want and possibly out “this month”; 36Kr later relays a revision to “the coming weeks”. We have not read The Information’s piece. The family is not named, so the report counts for this page as much as for Fable 5.5.

Leak@pankajkumar_dev: “Opus 5.5 routing to Opus 5.6”; some accounts reach a new model, “my first guess is Opus 5.6”Predictedauthor claim · unverified
The post that puts the name on the routing reports, while saying Fable 5.5 is also a possibility. A guess about a routing test: no model ID, date or price.

October 11–12. TestingCatalog writes it up on October 12 and says it could be Opus 5.6 as easily as Fable 5.5. Routing shows a different answer came back, not a name. The same row sits in the Fable 5.5 table.

OfficialAnthropic releases Opus 5.5, the current OpusVerifiedofficial
Opus 5.5 ships at $4 / $20 per million tokens with a 1M context; Sonnet 5.5 and Haiku 5.5 follow in the weeks after. Nothing about a 5.6 is announced with it, then or since.

Ranked newest first for now; ranking by reach (the original post’s view count, recorded once with its date) starts when the reach field is filled. A screenshot, a routing test or a catalog row is not a release; an announcement from Anthropic, a model ID in the docs or a price is.

Questions about Opus 5.6
Is Opus 5.6 out?
No (checked Nov 4, 2026: Anthropic newsroom, model directory and API release notes). No release date is announced. A screenshot, a routing test or a catalog row is not a release; an announcement from Anthropic, a model ID in the docs or a price is.
What do the labels on the claims mean?
“Official” is Anthropic’s own page. “Our check” is something we looked up ourselves, with the link. “Author claim · unverified” is everything else: a post, a report or a listing we can link to but cannot confirm. Dates of X posts are read from the post IDs; “seen in search results only” means we read the post’s text in a search result and did not open it.
Were these works really made with this model?
That is the author’s claim. We cannot see which model actually ran, so every card carries an “author’s claim” line, and we say when an author works for the model’s maker.
I made one of these. Can I have it removed?
Yes. Email [email protected] with the link and we take it down within two working days.
